Rachin Ravindra may be the point of attraction of the IPL Mega Auction 2024. But he is not alone, there are three more players in the list of fetching highest bid.
The auction of IPL is already scheduled to take place on 19th December in Dubai. The franchises have already cleared the list of released players .
Let’s see who are going to be the top three players apart from Ravindra in the IPL bid list and which renowned names may be released by the franchises.
Rachin Ravindra
The young allrounder from New Zealand has already demonstrated his potential in the World Cup, amassing a total of 578 runs and taking 5 wickets in 10 matches. Despite not being initially included in the final squad for the World Cup, Rachin’s name was subsequently included in the 15-man squad as a replacement for the injured Michael Bracewell, as decided by the team management.
Rachin’s century against England, achieved in just 82 balls, stands as the fastest century by a New Zealand player in the history of the World Cup. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being the youngest New Zealand player to achieve this feat.
In fact, he became the second youngest player in the history of the World Cup to reach the milestone of 500 runs in World Cup cricket.
Due to his remarkable abilities, the 23-year-old left-hander undoubtedly stands as one of the most sought-after picks. Though Rachin himself expressed his desire to play for RCB through a social media post, CSK has already set their target on him.
Travis Head
The Man of the Match of world cup final is in the list of targets of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2024. Former English batsman Michael Vaughan is also optimistic about Head and according to Vaughan, Head must bag a huge ipl deal after his knock in the final of World Cup.
Head touched the feat of Mahinder Amarnath and Arvind Desilva after being declared as the player of the match in both semi final and final of World Cup.
But Travis Head’s record in T-20 is not impressive. Till the date, Head has scored 495 after playing 20 matches. Unlike his team mate Glenn Maxwell, Travis is not expected to keep a huge mark in IPL if past records reflect potentially of a player. Hitting 18 sixes in 20 matches isn’t enough to satisfy the spectators.
Gerald Coetzee
Coetzee, like Rachit Ravindra, was not in the list of World Cup squad. However, due to Michael Bracewell’s injury prepared an opportunity for Rachin Ravindra to be included in the New Zealand team. Additionally, Anrich Nortje’s stress fracture of the back led to Gerald Coetzee being included in the team.
Nevertheless, Coetzee has made a remarkable impression on the cricket world with his performance. Taking 18 wickets in the world cup this right arm fast bowler of South Africa has surpassed legends like Klusener and Morkel to become the leading wicket-taker of South Africa.
Furthermore, this pace bowler from South Africa has garnered significant attention in the IPL. He has already caught the interest of teams like the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai
Azmatullah Omarzai
The Afghan all rounder has astonished the cricket world with his excellent performance in the world cup.
Omarzai played a total of 9 matches in the World Cup 2023. He scored 353 runs with his bat at an average of 70.60 in 8 innings. Apart from this, with his brilliant bowling, he showed the way to the pavilion to 7 batsmen.
Because of his all-round performance, bids worth crores can be made for him in IPL. Due to his brilliant performance in WC, all the cricket experts are speculating that he can become the most expensive player of IPL 2024.
But Omarzai did not perform well in Pakistan Super League. In the last PSL he scored only 25 runs in 6 balls though his performance as a bowler was quite praiseworthy. The right arm fast bowler of Afghanistan took 10 wickets in the last year PSL.
The franchises have already released some big names to manage their funds so that they can buy their coveted players. According to the latest information, Chennai Super Kings has released Ben Strokes,Delhi Capitals has released Prithvi Shaw, Kolkata Knight Riders has released Shakib Al Hasan and Lockie Ferguson whereas Cameron Green has been released by Mumbai Indians.
